Timber wall with 2 windows.

Carpentry. ASC,2016.

This carpentry micro service began with a client's need to improve an Int-Ext wall's thermic performance, and to install 2 new curtains for 2 existent windows within it, instead of a single and unfit existing one.

The original wall was about 10cm thick: the context imposes a severe of winter weather. A second local eucalyptus skin (wall) was installed, leaving an irregular-thickness air layer. The air gap/layer was left ventilated, avoiding moisture.

Eucalyptus panels contribute with the kitchen charm, matching with the existent cabinet's natural timber. Some of the timber panels were white coated (good quality paint) to foster cleaning possibilities and to match with the kitchen walls)

Low-cost modern curtains were installed in the gap left by this second timber wall/siding.

The performance improved more than expected, making this humble housing addition an investment that will pay for itself. It saves resources considering the amount of gas/electricity saved, when considering thermic losses of the skinny existent wall.
