Studio cabinets and partition wall.

CLC + ASC, 2021.

This was a low-cost micro service. The most interesting part was the timber + fabric partition wall.

The client needed to separate the kitchen and bedroom in a 20 m2 studio, without spending more than 60 usd (2021).

In Brazil, a country with 2 massive rainforests (Amazonia and Atlântica) pinewood was always seen as the timber for forms and the low-quality objects. Pinewood can be found around the world in different qualities. In Brazil, where Amazon's trees are still commercialized under not fully clear(impossible) sustainable sources, pinewood is really cheap for low quality pinewood and also —the same price— for mid-quality pinewood. Taking advantage of this opportunity, pinewood was picked one by one in the mill, and Argelim Pedra pieces found in a demolition nearby months earlier were recycled, so material costs arise to 20 usd.

A natural fabric was used, to let the studio breathe.

Translucency allows a charming lighting effect.

More about Studio Partition Wall

The partition wall was executed in one day by 2 people with hand tools (ASC, CLC).

Other solutions were deemed as heavier (even drywall) so, this natural solution was more than lightweight.

Material cost = 20

Total cost ≈ 60 usd

Maintenance ≈ 5 usd/year
