A Campo Traviesa is a young architecture and urbanism firm based in Brazil. Founded in 2024, its origins started around 2018, encompassing an independent practice by Agu Sienra Chaves.
A Campo Traviesa is a young architecture and urbanism firm based in Brazil. Founded in 2024, its origins started around 2018, encompassing an independent practice by Agu Sienra Chaves.
The name A Campo Traviesa, which would be approximately equivalent to 'off-road' / 'road-less' / 'cross country', condensates its essence.
The name A Campo Traviesa, which would be approximately equivalent to 'off-road' / 'road-less' / 'cross country', condensates its essence.
It means a strong conviction with discovering new paths within the disciplines that shape our physical spaces. Treating every project with respect to other's milestones that precede us, but with curiosity and without the limits imposed by convention, the firm' name, in Spanish, reflects not only the 'road-less' English connotations. In Spanish, the expression has almost a countryside smell, which get even more life when considering the vastness of Rio de la Plata's grasslands, and why not, the vastness of some other natural regions of South America.

ACT is inspired by leading international practices, by Eladio Dieste's humanist-economic thinking and by the Uruguayan constructivism, having only small clues about what these giants do really weight. Thanks to that distance between what we know about those examples that inspires us and what they really are, ACT finds its range of movement and own voice.
